I got my cat Oreo from here a week ago! She's so sweet. All of the volunteers at this adoption center are so nice! You can really tell how much they care about these animals. The adoption counselor Anita was especially helpful during the process for myself. She offered me lots of valuable information and helped match-make me with the perfect little cuddle bug that I've been dreaming of. Also, since the center is non-profit, the adoption fees were not very high, despite Oreo being up-to-date on shots and spayed.

I’ve been going to this shelter on random occasions for years now to donate. Every time I am there I am greeted by the volunteers who are all very pleasant. The animals are all very well cared for and are shown lots of love from the people who choose to be there with them. When I am ready to adopt again I will be returning here.

We adopted our sweet senior Helen from Wyandotte Animal Adoption Center last year after seeing her post on Pet Finder. The adoption process started online, carried through to a phone interview where they had the opportunity to share more about Helen’s specific needs, and then a meet and greet with our resident dog to ensure both were comfortable with becoming doggy siblings. I appreciated the thoughtful care and time they dedicated to finding Helen’s ideal match, as she needed a somewhat around the clock care system. They helped set my expectations and home up for success by sharing their findings regarding her likes, habits, and most comfortable preferences. They were truly honest with her needs and life expectancy. The team also raised money for a full dental and senior blood panel diagnostic work up to give me medical information. During Helen’s life, they stayed in touch and followed her online updates by cheering her on. When she was diagnosed with her brain tumor, they sent well wishes and support. When she went to her first Tiger’s game and started her bucket list, they followed her journey: both staff and volunteers. When she eventually passed from her cancer, they all shared how special Helen was to them during her tenure in the shelter under their care. It truly meant a lot and helped us during our initial grieving process. We miss our sweet girl every day, and we are so glad she came into our lives because of the adoption center’s matchmaking. I work with many rescues and shelters, and this is one I recommend often to many! Their care is unmatched when it comes to the adoption process, and enrichment before finding their suitable match while living in their shelter.

We tried to adopt a cat, not even a kitten, but a dang cat. The amount of cats and over-crowding, you'd think they'd be a slight bit relaxed at the idea of interest in an adoption. Nope. They put us through the ringer. Found out we lost some of the original records for our dog, a small pug-a-poo, during our move. We had vet records, showing he was current and up to date but his visit was with a mobile vet during one portion of his history and we lost those records. Still had his tags and he is registered with the city, they didn't care and wouldn't let us adopt. It's ridiculous. Seriously. I'm sure they care about animals but I think they put entirely too much stock in their process and paperwork.

We put an application in to adopt 2 cat's at pet smart. One was a kitten named Merrick and an 8 year old adult named Wick. They only communicated through email with us. Only to reject the adoption through email without an explanation even after we sent them back an email asking if there was something we could fix or do to help change their mind. And went back to the pet store to see Merrick has been adopted and we understand their might have been more than one of us trying for Merrick. But Wick the 8 year old still sits there in his cage. I have been going to pet smart every day now to see Wick and give him love he knows me when I come in. And he loves on me. But he still sits there. He has been there almost 4 weeks now. Me and my family are very saddened about this situation. My last cat lived 18 years. And was very well taken care of and very loved. I wanted to share some pictures of Wick in hopes he will find a home very very soon😢💔

The Wyandotte adoption center is so good at matching pets with their people! The center is so clean and the animals are cared for with love. My Partner Matt and I adopted Louis who was a long time resident and needed the right home. Anita knew it would be us. Louis is an incredible boy and we love his energy and curiosity! Three weeks later we went back for Gigi she was a mama who’s kittens were all adopted. Anita knew it would work with Louis. Gigi was quite scared at first but time and space and safety was all she needed! We are so grateful for the work done here so we could adopt of kiddies♥️ When you are looking for the right animal dog or cat please go to Wyandotte Adoption Center!

Very accommodating. We got our cat from here and she's been nothing but a awesome addition to the family. They were patient and took their time showing us different cats and answered all our questions.

What a wonderful place! We were able to add Whiskers to our family through WAC. And Anne was so helpful. She was who recommended Whiskers and we wouldn't have even noticed her and now I couldn't 8magine my life without her in it.
